Welcome to my blog!

Hi everyone! Welcome to the official blog of "Because I Said Sew"! My name is Tracy, and I'm SEW happy that you've found me! This is the beginning of a brand new adventure for me. For years, I've wanted to start my own small buisness, but never had the time, courage, or resources to pull the trigger on it. Years ago, I taught myself how to use a sewing machine. I'd sew Halloween costumes for my kids, pillows and curtains for the house, and other fun projects. For some reason..mainly health, I suppose, I stopped sewing for a while. Then last year, my father died. It was an event that shattered my world, as I knew it. For some time, I didn't know if I could go on, though I still had a wonderful husband, and a beautiful family that needed me. Then as gradually as sewing left my life..it came back into my life again...thanks to a good friend named Stacy. She invited me over to her house once a week, and we'd sew together..mostly her teaching me how to make quilts, and other small projects. That's when the healing process began. Sewing, for me, has been a catharitic process. It's helped me cope with my problems, and relaxed me. I love to create beautiful things...especially for my loved ones! The look on their faces when you present them with something beautiful that's homemade with love, is priceless!

Now..that's how this dream of mine began. But how did I decide to turn it into a business? Well...over time..and actually for years now, I've had people tell me: "You should make some of those up and sell them!!"..whether it be one of my vintage aprons, or a kids "quillow" (a blanket/pillow combo). When my husband was laid off from his job of the 13 years last year..(it was rough year), that's when I said..."Tracy..you REALLY need to take the advice of your friends and family and sell some of your crafts!". Thus: Because I Said Sew" was born!! And this is the ground floor of a dream ! A new blog, which will link with my soon to be Etsy store, and an already existing Facebook page! I am REALLY SUPER excited about this blog, though, because I'm going to offer tutorials, links to other great pages/crafters, recipes, and GIVEAWAYS!! Yep! In fact, on my Facebook page right now, I have a giveaway for the first 50 fans: A beautiful fall wreath! So far, I have 36 fans, so I need 14 more to hold the giveaway.
